How Can a Medical Alert Dog Help?
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
Medical Alert Dogs may be trained to recognize changes in heart rate or blood pressure, providing an alert before symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, or fainting occur.
Chronic Migraines
If a consistent physiological or chemical change occurs before the onset of a migraine, a dog may be able to learn that scent or pattern and provide an early warning alert.
Down Syndrome
Service dogs may assist with daily living tasks such as retrieving dropped items, opening doors, providing deep pressure therapy for emotional regulation, and getting help when needed.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
Dogs can assist with retrieving items, providing balance support, opening doors, and helping during episodes of pain, fatigue, or joint instability.
Lupus
Medical Alert Dogs can retrieve medications, water, and other necessities, provide mobility support when appropriate, and seek assistance during periods of increased symptoms or fatigue.
Rare or Complex Medical Conditions
Whether you have a rare diagnosis or a combination of medical challenges, our team will evaluate your situation to determine whether a Medical Alert Dog may be able to provide meaningful support.
Personalized Training for Every Recipient
No two medical journeys are the same. That's why every Guardian Signal Dogs placement is tailored to the individual recipient.
Our team works closely with applicants, caregivers, and healthcare providers to understand specific symptoms, daily challenges, and goals. This collaborative approach allows us to develop a customized training plan that equips each Medical Alert Dog with the skills needed to support its handler's unique lifestyle and medical needs.
